The 4 Best Wild Beer Stores in Brussels

Being the capital of Belgium, it’s not surprising that it’s easy to get your beer fix here in Brussels in one of the many bars or restaurants. Add to that the many breweries, especially the lambic breweries, in and around the city, and we can conclude that for lovers of wild beers, you’re in heaven. However, if you’re looking to bring some wild beers back to your home, it’s a bit harder to find a decent store with a good selection of lambic, gueuze, and other types of wild beer. Therefore, I’ll help you a bit and present you my four favorite wild beer stores in Brussels (in random order).

Malting Pot

Located in Rue Scarron close to Flagey square, this store is wild beer heaven. Malting Pot offers a broad selection of lambics and gueuze, including almost the entire Meerts collection from Gueuzerie Tilquin. Usually, you can find some pretty rare beers here, for example, beers from Zythologists, Wild Beer Co, or Burning Sky.

    Malt Attacks

Near the Port du Halle in Saint-Gilles, you can find Malt Attacks. A true gem if you’re into wild beers. Expect to find lambics from amongst others Cantillon, 3 Fonteinen, and Lambiek Fabriek. Normally you should be able to find a broad selection of beers from Alvinne too. If you’re looking for French wild beers, this store might be the place to go. In the past, I’ve seen multiple beers from Sacrilege and Brasserie Mosaïque here.

    Beer Mania

Beer Mania isn’t just a place where you can buy beer, you can drink them here too. In the back of the shop is a bar where you can enjoy some drinks (including beers that you can’t take away) and small snacks. This store in Ixelles sells Belgian beers only and has the biggest selection of lambics and gueuze from all stores in this list. From De Cam to Girardin, no matter the brewery, Beer Mania has the lambic you’re looking for. They even still have some bottles of HORAL Megablend. No stress if you’re not looking for lambics or gueuze, there’s a good selection of Flemish red-brown ales too. You’ll be able to find most beers from ‘t Verzet here.

    Cave Coop

Another store close to Flagey where you can find wild beer is Cave Coop. They mainly sell natural wines but have a small selection of wild beers and ciders too. Besides a bottle of Cantillon or 3 Fonteinen, you shouldn’t expect to find a lot of Belgian lambic beers, but normally you can find some other nice bottles here. In the past, I’ve managed to find beers from Track Brewery and The Kernel Brewery. Finally, you can find bottles from the XP Sauvage project by En Stoemelings here.

Another nice little store worth mentioning is Fermenthings in the north of Brussels. It’s a store where they sell everything related to fermentation, but they also have a small changing selection of beer, cider, and wine. If you’re lucky you’ll find some bottles of wild beer from Belgian breweries here. Don’t forget to try out their homemade kombucha if you’re there. You should also not forget to pay a visit to La Source, a nice brewery with some amazing wild beers, that’s situated in the same building.
